Jayne Hunt was a founder member of the Equine Podiatry Association in 2006, acted as the EPA’s chairperson for many years and co-founded Equine Podiatry Training Ltd in 2008. Jayne lost her life in a riding accident involving a motorcycle in July 2023. Her horse, Moomin, survived without significant injury.
Jayne made a massive contribution both to the creation of the profession of equine podiatrist and to the establishment of nationally recognised standards for the profession. As a tutor at EPT, she excelled at providing a supportive atmosphere for students. Her catch phrases of ‘it depends’ and ‘it’ll all be fine’ will be repeated by equine podiatrists for many years to come.
Jayne was passionate about her work for EPT and for the wider profession. Her loss has been felt keenly by all who knew her but, in the spirit of her no-nonsense approach to life, EPT has striven to carry on training the next generation of equine podiatrists without missing a beat. The profession continues to grow stronger and stronger, grounded on the foundations that Jayne did so much to help lay.
